Carménère originates from the Bordeaux region of France. However, Chile is currently the main producer of this grape variety worldwide. We harvested the variety during the first half of April, seeking a balance between the herbaceous compounds typical of the variety and its fruity notes. The grapes come from Almahue, in the commune of Peumo, which has traditionally been recognized for the quality of its Carménère. We began developing this wine in 2017, and we are very happy with the results we have been obtaining. It is a fresh wine with a great structure, with aromas of forest fruits, tobacco, some vanilla and cedar notes.
GUARD
Enjoy now or store in a dark place horizontally for up to 7 years after harvest.
TASTING NOTE
Ripe and plummy, with notes of tobacco and spices. There is a lightness uncommon to Carmenere, due to a refreshing acidity. The palate is ample, with enveloping tannins and a long, pleasant finish.
PAIRING
We recommend this Carmenere gran reserva with long-cooked meats such as a silverside, spiced goose tip or braised strip roast. Also meat stews containing vegetables such as bell peppers and carrots.
